Each day of the year, the safety and well-being of children across Minnesota are threatened by child sexual abuse. Intervening effectively in the lives of our children and their families is not the sole responsibility of government, any single agency or professional group, but rather must be a shared community concern. The seriousness of the effects of child sexual abuse, the primary social illness in Minnesota, underscores the importance for various sectors of our society to work together in a dynamic partnership: |
A "Protecting Our Children" collaborative partnership creating prevention efforts and implementing appropriate plans and services, improved prevention laws, practice innovations, system reform efforts, and knowledge building are needed to provide the tools, knowledge and skills required to protect our children from sexual abuse. |
